Our Story:
John Wesley was the founder of the Methodist movement in England and had as his aim in the 1700’s to “reform the nation, particularly the church, and to spread scriptural holiness across the land.”
Benjamin Titus Roberts was the founder of the Free Methodist Church in New York and had as his aim in the 1860’s to move Methodism forward by returning to the power and spirit in which it had started out. He deeply desired for the Free Methodist Church to be committed to classical Christian doctrines such as the infallibility of scripture, salvation by faith, and the deity of Jesus Christ, and challenged all who desired to become members to reach out to the poor, to help end discrimination and racism, and to love the Lord with all of their heart and soul.
Our founding pastors, Montana and Joy Mormur, began a church planting project for the Free Methodist Church Thanksgiving weekend 2000 which met at their home in the backyard. Known as The Free Methodist Open Church, they continued to meet at their home until May 2003 when they moved into the present building in Orange City and teamed up with 7 members from the former church plant that were at this location. Following the merger, they changed their name to Living Water Free Methodist Church. Along with John Wesley and Benjamin Titus Roberts, their aim is to continue reaching out with the love of Jesus to change the destiny of one more soul.
